How Logan County Court Records Are Searched

For certified copies, archived files, pleadings, orders, and final judgments, Logan County court records still begin with the Circuit Court Clerk at the county court building.

Types of Logan County Court Records
Logan County court records come from the Kentucky Court of Justice trial courts. Circuit Court is the general-jurisdiction court for felonies, civil matters above $5,000, divorce, adoption, termination of parental rights, title disputes, injunctions, writs, contested probate, and appeals from District Court and administrative agencies. The same records counter can be involved for both courts because Kentucky trial-level court records are managed by the county Circuit Court Clerk. The separate Logan County Clerk handles recorded instruments, eCCLIX access, marriage licenses, and county recording indexes, so a deed, lien, property instrument, or license record is not searched as a court case. Estate matters can involve both systems when a probate file exists in court and a deed or release is recorded with the Logan County Clerk.

What Logan County Court Records Show
A full Logan County court record is more than a docket date. The KYeCourts login page is the registered access point tied to CourtNet and related court applications.
Because CourtNet is not the same as an open public search page, public users still need the docket portal or clerk route when they do not have registered access.
Public Access to Logan County Court Records
Kentucky's public-records framework includes the Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 to 61.884, but Logan County court case records are not first requested through a generic county open-records process. The Kentucky Court of Justice directs people to the Office of Circuit Court Clerk in the county where the case was filed. Logan County Court Records Outside Local Court
Federal cases are not Logan County court records. Logan County is in the federal Western District of Kentucky, so federal criminal prosecutions, federal civil cases, bankruptcy matters, habeas cases, and supervised-release matters are filed in federal court systems rather than at the Logan County Court of Justice. Restricted Logan County Court Records
Not every Logan County court record is public. KRS 610.340 makes juvenile court records confidential except where a statute allows official access or disclosure. Adoption records are confidential even though adoption is handled through Circuit or Family Court. Mental-health commitment proceedings are handled in District Court but are not ordinary public court records. Domestic-violence and protective-order files may include protected addresses, minor information, and other details that are withheld or redacted.
Sealed and expunged records are also limited. A sealed record is hidden from public view by court order or statute. An expunged matter is removed from public state-performed background checks, and agencies generally respond as if no public record exists for that matter. Kentucky expungement rules include separate paths for certain felonies, dismissed felony charges that do not result in indictment, and misdemeanor, violation, or traffic matters. A person seeking access to a sealed file needs statutory authority or a court order, not a standard public copy request.

The court page posts weekday hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and lists cash, local check, money order, and credit or debit card with a fee for court payments where accepted. Bond payment rules are stricter.
